Event Details

The Everson Museum of Art and the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville are partnering to bring you an art-themed book club right at home, in the car, on the trail, or camping in a tent in the woods. Wherever you are right now, you can enjoy a fascinating book and join the discussion on Zoom from your computer, tablet, or phone! Presented by the docents of the Everson, this social book club is open to adults and seniors looking to have a relaxing chat about a thrilling topic from the world of art.

We are reading Oil and Marble: a Novel of Leonardo and Michelangelo by Stephanie Storey for the October session. From 1501 to 1505 Leonardo and Michelangelo both lived in Florence, one at the peak of his career who despises a young artistic upstart, and the upstart, a man out to prove his worth, both to the genius he idolizes and antagonizes and the world. When Michelangelo is granted the commission to sculpt David while Leonardo is passed over for it, their trajectories begin to change. Follow the rise and fall of two of the greatest artists of all time as Storey vividly imagines their lives and passionate relationships.

Registration Required. Zoom meeting information will be emailed to registrants on the day of the event. This event is moderated.

Oil and Marble is available to borrow right now on Hoopla.

5 Copies of Oil and Marble have been purchased for the library’s OverDrive/Libby collection.
